ESTONIAN NATIONAL SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA
The Estonian National Symphony Orchestra (ERSO), the premiere orchestra of the Republic of Estonia - has 100 musicians and gives 60 concerts per season.
The 80th season of the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra, the 6th season with Nikolai Alexeev as the Principal Conductor and the 5th season with Paavo Järvi as the Artistic Advisor, finds ERSO scaling new heights in achievement.
Among many honors is a 2003 Grammy Award for Sibelius’s Cantatas. At the British Broadcasting Corporation's 2006 Music Awards ERSO was chosen as the Award Winning Orchestra for Grieg's Peer Gynt Incidental Music. Both recordings are on Virgin Classics with Paavo Järvi conducting.
Many outstanding conductors as well as many famous soloists have performed with ERSO. The orchestra has played a significant role in the development of Estonian orchestral music.
