Consonant Works CDs consist of two sessions; the first session is a CD-Audio with CD-Text, the second session is a CD-ROM.

The CD-Audio session will play in all CD players. Embedded in the CD-Audio session is CD-Text information such as the CD’s title, performer, composer and track information. CD players that display CD-Text information are rare; however some computer media players offer CD-Text support.

The CD-ROM session, ignored by CD players, is recognized by most personal computers. Many Microsoft Windows® operating systems will auto-run the CD-ROM session, and attempt to execute ShellRun.exe, offering user selectable options. If asked, ShellRun.exe is safe to run.

Example of the option pop-up screen from the Christmas 2010 CD created for Digi-Key Corporation:

Shell Run

Windows® Media Player, and several other media players, properly interprets the command issued by ‘Play CD Now!’ but WinAmp® does not.

If the menu does not appear; view the files, (e.g. mp3, m3u, pdf, txt), in the CD-ROM session and open them manually.
