VENNO LAUL
Professor Venno Laul (b. Estonia 1938) is the founder and was for 30 years the chief conductor of the Estonian Boys' Choir
(1971-2001).
Mr. V. Laul was President of the Estonian Academy of Music (1982-1992) and President of the Estonian Choral Association (1986-1996). He has served as a member of the Board and Music Committees of the European Federation of Young Choirs and advisor member of the Board of the International Federation of Choral Music. He has been many times a conductor of the All-Estonian Song Festivals, and a guest conductor of several international festivals, including
Europa Cantat XII (Denmark),
XXX Jornades Internacionales de Cant Coral (Barcelona),
Europa Cantat Junior (Germany) and Tarragona Singing-Week (Spain).
With extensive experience in choral music, he has become an accomplished adjudicator of more than 60 international choir competitions in Europe, Asia and the U.S.A. In 2001 Mr. Laul received one of the highest recognitions of the country, awarded by President Meri - Order of the White Star 2nd Class. Presently Mr. Laul is General Manager of the Estonia Piano Factory.
